Durham Conservation Commission

April 17, 2024; 6:30 – 8:00 pm; Eureka Center

DCC Attendees: Roberta Brezinski, Sam Cuccaro, Mike Friendly, Jess Costa, Jeff Tindall

Guest Attendees: Mr. and Mrs. Jewel (potential new members)

• Commission voted to approve the minutes from the last three meetings

• Roberta reached out to Amanda Somnee about the Green Team potentially being involved with the Community Resilience Partnership Grant if awarded

o Roberta and Mike will meet with the teacher prior to school getting out

o How to engage youth (informational signage at town parks)

o CRP grants to be awarded in mid-May

• Update on Agricultural Committee – drafted a charter, will go before Select Board for approval

o DCC to collaborate with Ag Committee on protecting high value Ag land

• DCC to review projects in front of Planning Board to provide comments on developments like subdivisions

• DCC to revisit charter language

• Newsblast about waste not taken on bulky waste day – Jess to draft, may call Road Commissioner if questions

• Newsblast about landowner open space incentive/tax reduction

• Need to reach out to Kimberly about Town quarterly newsletter to update the DCC meeting time to 6:30pm

• 2024 DCC projects if not awarded CRP grant:

o Cell towers ordinance

o Battery storage ordinance

o Mitigation fees for solar and other developments

o Solar mapping

o Resource protection updates

• DCC note taking, rotating task among members? Roberta’s husband?

• Meet at River Park for July meeting?
