Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes February 8, 2024 Eureka Community Center, 6:00pm

Meeting called to order 6:00pm

I. Establish a quorum Quorum established

Absent: David McLellan

III. Minutes acceptance for January 11, 2024 Motion made to accept the minutes for January 11, 2024

Seconded No discussion 3 in favor Paula Purdy and Emily Alexander abstains

IV. Information and Reports Kimberly will send a copy of article over to the chair, article submitted to town vote

Union Church has been on the Select Board meeting agenda for the last 2 meetings. Plan is to give Durham Historical Society the $31,000 as a gift not a transfer so the Historical Society doesn't have to control it.

V. Continuing Business

a. Discussion to plan a path to achieving our approved goals, tabled until March 14th meeting

Motion made to reconsider language of the goals

Discussion: Revise 1.To identify, preserve, inform, and communicate the importance of protecting … after it’s add past resources and historical heritage

B. Discuss the communications

David McLellan requested discussion about the two buildings removed from the registry at the January 11, 2024 meeting, discussion postponed until the next meeting David McLellan attends.

VI. New Business

a. Develop a plan for outreach to the community

Developing a plan for outreach will be tied into the discussion to plan a path to achieving our approved goals

Question to the committee should Lois reach out to Meghan at Maine Preservation, requirements for building construction. Decided that will happen at a future time.

b. Staggering the terms of DHDC members

Staggering terms of DHDC members, term starts when you are nominated and voted on by the Select Board. All members except Sandra Hilton and David McLellan terms end 2025.

Emily Alexander will request a renomination for 2027

For the grants language: provide information/ grant resources, assisting

Send nicer ones to people living in the district Find out how much it will cost Need to clear the brochure through Jerry
