Town of Durham Selectboard Durham Fire Station June 11, 2024 Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Joe Tomm, Joshua Klien-Golden (Mod.), Heather Roy, and Deb Oliver. Tia Wilson representing Durham Historical Society

Absent: Joe Roy 6:30 PM Call to Order

Amendments to Agenda: Josh asks to add topics to Old Business so Joe Roy can comment on return. Decision to proceed with new business despite Joe Roy’s absence.

Old Business: Discussion and Award of Legal Services Motion to award legal services to: Accept Preti-Flaherty as legal representation for the Town of Durham

Motion Made by: Joe Tomm Seconded by: Heather Roy MOTION CARRIED: 3-0-1 Josh Klein-Golden recused himself – knows the legal service

Discussion of Quit Claim Deed of Union Church with the Durham Historical Society Tia Wilson, representing the Historic Society, to speak regarding the Union Church Proposal for a Quit Claim Deed. Tia also presented the Board with a list of items contained in the Union Church Motion to: Move forward with the Quit Claim Deed for the Town of Durham and Durham Historical Society by removing the word PURPOSE from the last paragraph so land is granted is subject to condition it be used for the Durham Historical Society and should the Durham Historical Society cease to exist or discontinue use of this land and buildings for its sole use, the property shall revert to the Town of Durham.

Manager Report:

-   Solid Waste Contract will be ready by June 25 th meeting
-   2023 Tax Liens Filed
-   New website ready for launch July 1 st
-   New cleaner starting soon
-   Open Space Grant was not approved
-   Jerry is taking a vacation day on June 20, and is taking the first and third week of July for vacation

Board Member Reports:

- Heather Roy: Residents' concerns that the Steering Committee's outcome will increase taxes. Reiterates that grants and other funding are an option. Board should look at how we communicate information to residents regarding upcoming agenda items and information discussed at meetings. How the town deals with PR.
